Compounded Tirzepatide: Important Safety Information

Important Safety Warning
IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING — Compounded tirzepatide has not been reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. Tirzepatide carries a Boxed Warning for risk of thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), based on animal studies. It is unknown whether tirzepatide causes thyroid C-cell tumors in humans. Compounded tirzepatide is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Common Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, fatigue, dizziness, headache, and injection site reactions. Usually mild and improve with time.

Who Should Not Use This Medication

  • Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to tirzepatide
  • History of pancreatitis
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Patients under 18 years of age

Compounded tirzepatide is prepared by a licensed US compounding pharmacy on a valid prescription issued by a licensed provider. It is not an FDA-approved drug product. Your provider will review your health history and determine whether this medication is appropriate for you.
