What to Ask Before You Pay a Telehealth Platform

Before you pay a telehealth platform, ask when your payment turns into a real charge, what's refunded if you cancel, and which fees sit outside the published price. The answers should be in writing before you hand over your card.

This guide follows your money step by step, from your request to delivery, and shows how we handle it at VidaFlow Health. To first check that the platform is real, read our guide to verifying a telehealth platform.

What happens to my card when I submit my request?

On many platforms, submitting a request doesn't trigger a charge but an authorization: your bank holds the amount, but no money moves yet. Ask which of the two happens, for how much, and how long the hold can last before it's released or turned into a charge.

At VidaFlow Health, submitting the form places a payment authorization, not a charge.

When does it become a real charge?

The policy should say what event turns the authorization into a charge. On a serious platform, that event is a medical decision, not the simple act of filling out a form. If the policy doesn't say, ask before you pay and keep the answer. That way you'll know what to expect on your statement.

At VidaFlow Health, you're charged only after an independent licensed physician approves you. If the physician doesn't approve you, the full authorization is released and you pay $0. To see that case in detail, read what happens if the doctor doesn't approve you.

What do I get back if I cancel after I'm approved?

It depends on when you cancel, and the policy should explain it stage by stage. Ask what happens if you cancel after approval but before the pharmacy ships the order, and what happens if the shipment has already gone out. Also ask whether any fee is never refunded at all.

At VidaFlow Health, if you cancel after approval and before the pharmacy ships the order, and it can still be stopped, we refund your payment minus the $35 medical evaluation fee, which is non-refundable. Medication that has already shipped is non-refundable. The details are in the refund policy.

Is the price for one cycle, or does it renew on its own?

Ask whether the published price covers a single cycle or renews automatically, how often you're charged, and how to cancel a renewal. Also ask whether there's a membership or access fee on top of the medication. If renewal is automatic, it should be written down before you pay, not discovered on your statement.

At VidaFlow Health, patients aren't charged a membership fee.

Which fees sit outside the published price?

Beyond the medication, some platforms charge separately for the medical evaluation, shipping, supplies, or follow-up visits. Ask for the full list of what you'd pay on your first order and on the ones after it. If a fee appears for the first time on the payment screen, stop and ask before you continue.

At VidaFlow Health, the medical evaluation has a $35 fee. To add up the full cost of any platform, read what telehealth really costs.

What should I keep in writing before I pay?

Keep a copy of the price you saw, the current refund policy with its date, and the confirmation of your request. A screenshot is enough. If you later see a charge you didn't expect, those documents let you compare what you were told with what you were charged, without relying on memory.

To see each step of the process, read how telehealth works.

Who do I contact if I see a charge I didn't expect?

Write to the platform's support team first, in writing, with the date, the amount, and your receipt. Ask for a written reply and keep it. If they don't answer, or the answer doesn't match the policy you saved, you can contact the bank that issued your card to ask what options you have.

At VidaFlow Health, you can write to support@vidaflowhealth.com.

If something doesn't add up, ask

A serious platform can answer each of these questions in writing before you pay. If you get evasive replies or pressure to pay today, that's your answer.

You can ask us these same questions. Write to support@vidaflowhealth.com.
